GREATER Dandenong students were among those applauded for VCE success last week.
The Premier’s VCE Awards recognised 286 students for performing at the highest levels last year.
“Completing VCE is no small feat, but doing so with a top score is a tremendous achievement,” Premier Denis Napthine said at the 5 June celebration.
“Today is a wonderful occasion to celebrate these students, who are an inspiration to their peers, schools and communities.”
Mr Napthine presented 310 awards across three categories – study awards, top three international student awards, and top all round high achiever awards for students who received a study score of 46 or above in at least five subjects.
Springvale’s Minaret College congratulated Yomna Elsamman on an award for Arabic.
Haileybury College’s Keysborough campus applauded Year 12 student, current school captain and Endeavour Hills resident Raja Noureddine on his award for Philosophy.
Haileybury students received eight Premier’s VCE Awards in total, which included four for Year 11 students.
“Premier’s Awards are given to the top three to five students in each subject area,” principal Derek Scott said.
“In most cases, you had to get a study score of 50.
“I would like to congratulate all staff involved in teaching these students during their VCE year.”
