Festival to show the way

DANDENONG Market will host the area’s first Children’s Sustainability Festival next March.
The Greater Dandenong event is touted as a fun day where the community and council staff will embrace and celebrate environmental sustainability together.
It’s designed to build on existing council activities and programs to improve community understanding of environmental sustainability, and show them what they can do to reduce their environmental footprint.
On Sunday 30 March there’ll be fun activities, displays, demonstrations and programs engaging, entertaining, educating, plus experts and roving performers.
Councillor Matthew Kirwan pushed for the event and said it was exciting to see it come to fruition.
“It’s a family event for residents who want to reduce their impact on the environment and reduce their energy bills to learn how to do it – not by having to go to an inner city event but having an opportunity in their own backyard,” he said.
