‘Hyphen’ tips Swans

By CASEY NEILL

AFL great David Rhys-Jones predicts Sydney will get over the line in tomorrow’s Grand Final.
The 1987 Norm Smith medallist was the guest speaker at the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce annual Grand Final Charity Luncheon at Sandhurst Club in Skye last Wednesday, 24 September.
“I think the best two teams in the competition are playing in it and I’m sure it’ll be a great match,” he said.
“I think the Swans will win.
“They’ve been the best team all year. They’re an amazing team to watch.”
Rhys-Jones said Hawthorn was a great team, too.
“They’ve had some injury problems and that’s always going to wear you down,” he said.
He said the Hawks should name Cyril Rioli in the side, for his first senior game in three months following a hamstring injury.
“I think he showed enough (in last weekend’s VFL grand final, playing for Box Hill),” he said.
“I’d play him.
“If Hawthorn are going to win, they need Rioli out there.
“They need their big guns firing.
“Even at 60 to 70 per cent I’d rather Cyril Rioli than the other bloke.”
See next week’s Journal for a full wrap-up of the event.
