A PROPOSED regional multi-purpose sports centre at Tatterson Park has won a $4.86 million Federal funding boost.
Greater Dandenong Council had pitched the project to State and Federal Governments to develop the 48-hectare Keysborough park’s three sports grounds into a “regional sports complex of excellence”.
The plan includes a $2.2 million pavilion with eight uni-sex change rooms, meeting rooms, a commercial kitchen and spectator viewing, as well as floodlights.
It will complement the park’s existing Springers Leisure Centre, playgrounds, open space and general amenities.
Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus said the funding was “wonderful news for residents of Keysborough”.
“I was very pleased to give my support to this project and I look forward to seeing this new facility completed and used by local sportspersons,” Mr Dreyfus said.
He said the council would fund the balance of the $9.73 million project.
