A MAN sprayed deodorant in a taxi driver’s face during an attempted armed robbery in Dandenong.
The driver picked up the 25-year-old Dandenong man from Dandenong railway station about 10.45pm on Thursday 5 May.
The passenger demanded cash a few minutes into the trip, on Herbert Street, and threatened the driver with a deodorant can.
He then sprayed the victim and slapped him in the face.
“There’s been a scuffle in the vehicle after that,” Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said.
“The victim has been assisted by another vehicle that’s stopped after seeing the scuffle in the car.”
The would-be robber was restrained until uniformed officers from Dandenong attended and arrested him.
They charged him with attempted armed robbery.
