A quadriplegic man was found lying unconscious on the footpath following a robbery in Dandenong North, just metres from his home.
Greater Dandenong CIU’s Senior Constable Antonio Meleisea said a passing motorist spotted the 39-year-old man near the Monash Freeway off-ramp on Police Road about 10.30pm on Wednesday 8 November.
He said it was lucky their headlights swept over the victim.
“He doesn’t even know how long he was there for,” Sen Const Meleisea said.
The victim was returning home from Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre in his motorised wheelchair when the thieves approached, knocked him from the chair and stole a black satchel containing credit cards and cash.
He suffered scrapes to his head and general soreness, and was taken to hospital by police.
Sen Const Meleisea said police wanted to speak to two men who were seen in the area at the time.
He said both were Caucasian and just over 183 centimetres tall. One was aged in his mid-forties and the other in his late fifties with a scruffy beard.
