An upgrade at Springvale, Governor and Hutton roads promises to cut travel times.
Keysborough MP Martin Pakula said on Monday 19 February that a $1.45 million project was underway to reduce delays at the Keysborough intersection during the evening peak.
Double right turn lanes will be installed on the Springvale Road and Governor Road approaches, allowing more vehicles to turn through each green light cycle.
The existing turn lane on Governor Road will be extended from 60 to 80 metres, helping to stop traffic building up while waiting to turn.
Mr Pakula said the project would also reduce the risk of right-turn crashes.
There have been 10 casualty crashes at this intersection over the past five years, four that resulted in serious injuries.
Construction is expected to be completed mid-year.
