Police shooting charges

Police charged another man over an incident where an officer fired a shot at a car in Dandenong.

On Friday 15 June, Greater Dandenong CIU detectives announced they’d charged an 18-year-old Heatherton man with evading police, driving in a dangerous manner and other traffic offences.

They’d already charged him theft and motor vehicle theft.

Police allege that on Wednesday 6 June, two men stole alcohol from a liquor store on Dunearn Road, Dandenong North, about 4.30pm.

They allegedly fled the scene in a stolen maroon Nissan Pulsar, which officers spotted nearly three hours later in a service lane on Princes Highway, Dandenong.

It’s alleged that the driver drove towards police, prompting one to fire a shot.

Police arrested the 18-year-old Heatherton man later than night, and arrested a 17-year-old Dandenong boy on Sunday 10 June.

They’re still trying to identify a woman seen in the vehicle during the alleged robbery.

Police urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
