Storm gear gifted to SES

Greater Dandenong VICSES unit has received a gift of much-needed equipment from a corporate benefactor.

The $2500 of new storm-related gear included lighting, e-flares and Acrow props – which are used to hold together damaged structures,.

In the past year, the unit has responded to 252 calls for assistance. Of those, 185 were calls during storm damage.

Insurance company AAMI donated the equipment as part of a $600,000 gift to SES units across the state.

Unit controller Daniel Cooksley said it was terrific to receive the backing for SES volunteers supporting the Greater Dandenong community.

“The support allows our volunteers to have access to the best training and equipment to support the Greater Dandenong community before, during and after an emergency.”
