Goodwill for Wellsprings helpers

Wellsprings for Women’s indispensable volunteers were celebrated in Bollywood style.

The support service involves more than 90 volunteers to help run a host of activities such as cooking workshops, child minding, admin, house-keeping, fundraising and gardening.

They provide about 22,800 hours of work a year – valued at about $570,000.

“We simply would not exist without them,” says chief executive Dalal Smiley.

“We can never repay our volunteers for the amazing work they do for us.

“We invest in training and upskilling our volunteers and in celebrating their contributions to the impact they make in other women’s lives and in keeping Wellsprings going”

Other services provided include one-to-one assistance in the classroom, home visits to isolated women, service referrals, homework support, English tuition and sewing.

The centre helps the most vulnerable and disadvantaged women in Greater Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia.
