DANDENONG rail giant Bombardier has given teens a taste of making trains and trams.
The manufacturer last week partnered with Rail Skills Australia to host 15 students from Dandenong High School and Noble Park Secondary College.
On the site tour, the teens interacted with rail experts, learnt about the work stations and specialist areas involved in manufacturing trains and trams, and witnessed work on the VLocity trains and Melbourne E-Class trams for Victoria and the Adelaide DMU trains for South Australia.
Bombardier Transportation Australia human resources director Danny Walsh said the students were the rail industry’s future employees.
“As they embark on their education and career decision-making processes, now is the time to show them what opportunities are available across the industry, and allow them to decide their future career path,” he said.
“This was a great opportunity to reach out to the community and talk to young people about what we do at Bombardier, how we work and what we stand for.”
RSA is a not-for-profit consultancy organisation working with secondary colleges and the rail industry to promote workforce, education and training advice to students.
Its aim is to help create a more informed and resilient rail workforce in Australia.
