GREATER Dandenong’s trade and manufacturing strength has lured one of the world’s largest banks to establish a branch in the city.
BankWest, a prominent West Australian banking group, is now operational in Robinson Street, Dandenong, but is specialising purely in business clientele.
BankWest is owned by Halifax and Bank of Scotland (HBOS), one of the world’s largest banking groups.
The Central Dandenong branch is known as the BankWest Greater Dandenong Business Centre, and according to manager Malcolm Bull, will service traders and manufacturers throughout Melbourne’s south east.
Mr Bull said the strong presence of such businesses made Greater Dandenong a logical choice, and with more major industrial projects on the way it would only expand the business.
Mr Bull said he was aware other banks were already present in Greater Dandenong, but said BankWest’s business focus would give it an advantage in the businessclient market.
“What we try to demonstrate is our speed to market,” he said. “Customers know very quickly if we can help them or not. Once they give us the agreed amount of information, we will analyse it and give an indication very quickly – that’s a tangible representation of our how our service culture differs (to other banks).”
The branch is open and welcoming business clients. For more information phone BankWest Greater Dandenong on 8710 3100.
