BURDEN Park Bowling Club’s leading ladies side has top position on the VLBA ladder.
An 113-80 loss last week should spark the talented ladies into finding some winning form before the finals.
The second side won a cliffhanger against Berwick 99-98 in a bid to avoid relegation.
The Royal Victorian Bowls Association men’s side threw caution to the wind against Lalor on Saturday and won 107-80.
Victory has given it an outside chance of avoiding relegation if it can win this week against Melbourne.
Skip Adam Keil, Russell Saunders, Adam Jardine and Jon Morris won 31-9.
The second side travelled to Blackburn and lost 107-70.
After last week’s loss, the third side slipped from third to fifth and had to beat Waverley Golf to stay in finals contention, but was defeated 103-72.
The fourth side enjoyed a solid 94-87 win over Bennetswood.
The fifth side lost 89-87 and the sixth side 92-91 in a match decided on the last bowl of the day.
