Cr Brown cut the ribbon, which stretched across the clubrooms, before residents hit the courts to serve up an ace or two.
The day was sponsored by the council and the Victorian Government’s Getting Involved program which is designed to increase interest in the coming Commonwealth Games.
Cr Brown proved he was no flop on the tennis court but was met with stiff opposition from many children who made the most of the free tennis day at the Somerset Drive venue at Dandenong North.
