GREATER Dandenong’s network of religions is ready to roll with monthly tours of places of worship.
Interfaith Network will run the tours once a month, visiting the city’s major religious buildings, including the Cambodian Buddhist Temple in Clarke Road Springvale.
Pictured here with members of the temple, Interfaith Network president, Helen Heath said the tours were a great way for the community to learn more about the city’s many religions.
“The public tours are very popular and people always have wonderful things to say about both the tours, and the Faith Leaders who host them,” she said.
“For the people of faith and prayer who contribute in so many ways to these tours through the Interfaith Network, these positive responses are a good sign that the tours are significantly helping to bring understanding, peace, and harmony to the community.”
Ms Heath, this year’s Greater Dandenong Resident of the Year, said the tours had expanded to cope with demand, and this year would include visits to places of aboriginal spirituality and Jewish faith.
She said past tour participants included teachers, hospital staff, palliative care volunteers, police, inter-church councils and various community groups
“Council staff and councillors have also been on recent tours,” she said.
