Council seeks your ideas to improve park

RESIDENTS have been invited to submit ideas to improve one of Dandenong’s oldest parks.
The 100-year-old Dandenong Park is destined for a makeover and the City of Greater Dandenong is holding a community forum to collect ideas to spruce-up the space.
Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown said the input would play a key role in central Dandenong’s revitalisation.
“The park has many mature trees, expansive lawn areas and despite its historical importance, the park is fragmented and tired,” he said.
“Like many parklands throughout Melbourne, it has developed in a fragmented fashion, without a clear vision.”
Recommendations currently before council include more footpaths, more picnic spaces, and opening the northern end with the relocation of the bowls and croquet clubs.
The forum will take place on Tuesday, 23 May at Thomas Carroll Reserve, Crowe Pavilion, Box Street, Dandenong at 6.30pm.
