MORE than 125 Noble Park students can call themselves water watchers after successfully completing a healthy water way education course.
Melbourne WaterWatch is a free river health education and monitoring program that is aimed at increasing students’ understanding of river health issues.
Students from Wallarano Primary School and Chandler Primary School received certificates last week from Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown for their participation in a range of educational activities focusing on healthy waterways.
Cr Brown said it was important for students to learn about the significance of local waterways.
“The program helps local primary schools become experts on water quality, learning to take and assess water samples and finding out about the habitat required for aquatic plants and animals such as frogs and fish,” he said.
