STUDENTS at Noble Park’s Harrisfield Primary School were compelled to raise funds for meningococcal disease research after receiving a touching letter from a dead boy’s father.
It may have been Jeans for Genes Day last Friday, 4 August, but the school’s students were dressed out of uniform for a much different cause.
The Junior School Council earlier this year received a letter from a father whose son died from meningococcal disease.
In a letter to Star, the Junior School Council said its members were touched by the letter because the boy was a grade five student much like themselves.
“So we are doing a fundraiser for it and giving the money to meningococcal research,” the school council said.
“We hope we have raised a lot of money for this disease.”
