GREATER Dandenong companies are making community service a core part of doing business.
Representatives from local companies attended a corporate and social responsibility seminar last week at job consultant company ESP Tecforce.
The event was organised by the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce as part of Mini Business Week, which ended that day.
The seminar allowed companies to share with each other how they were giving back to their community.
Speakers included Peter Helmore from ESP Tecforce, Phil Smith from Commonwealth Bank Australia, and John Ackland from Link Employment and Training.
It followed the chamber’s Mentoring and Community Development Program in February, where chamber members held free seminars for not-for-profit groups.
The program is in the running for an award this week at the Australia Business Arts Foundation Awards 2006, in the Toyota Community Award category.
The free advice at the February program was to help not-for-profit organisations promote themselves and prosper, all with the aid of local businesses.
