Tap into high-tech

THE students are a wired bunch down at Carwatha College after the official opening this week of the school’s $1.2 million high-tech learning centre.
Electronic whiteboards, 40 computers and a plethora of digital cameras await Carwatha’s year seven and eight students who the centre is designed for.
Star first reported in April that the school was in the process of building the facility after Mulgrave MP Daniel Andrews announced more than $1 million of State Government funding for the project.
School principal Bronwyn Hamilton said the prep to year 12 college contributed $150,000 to the new building.
This week, Ms Hamilton and Mr Andrews reunited to launch the centre after several months of building.
Ms Hamilton said students were already using the high-tech hub to enhance their learning and make school work more fun.
“They are very excited to have moved into the centre and their response since they’ve been in it is very positive,” she said.
“The students have taken to the different style of learning and are very excited by the access to technology.”
Ms Hamilton said the school would now plan on integrating high-tech learning throughout all of its grades.
