THIEVES with a fetish for gay sex videos and ladies’ lingerie hit the fire-ravaged G-Spot Adult Superstore last week, landing a second devastating blow to the owner’s fortunes.
Deborah Bateman’s dream business was destroyed two weeks ago by a fire that engulfed a neighbouring mechanical workshop. Ms Bateman told Star (26 October) she had given up 30 years as a jeweller to open the adult store, and had just started to see growth after 12 months in business.
Last week the burnt-out shell of her shattered dream was the target of thieves who stole any salvageable, and even heat-damaged, goods.
“They took lingerie, they took condoms, a lot of things we thought might have been heat-damaged, including massage oils,” Ms Bateman said. “They also took a lot of novelty items, including humping dogs and pirates that swear at you. And a lot of the gay videos.”
Ms Bateman said the salvageable items were to be auctioned off, but again her hopes had been destroyed.
