THE Noble Park Bulls have a chance to topple minor premiers the Vermont Eagles in the Eastern Football League second semi-final this Saturday at Bayswater Oval.
For the winner a week’s rest and guaranteed grand-final appearance is on offer, while the loser will have to return to Bayswater next week to tackle Donvale.
Donvale knocked East Burwood out of premiership contention with a 14-point see-sawing win and neither the Bulls or Eagles will be volunteering to play Donvale that has hit form at the right time of the year.
For Vermont, the pressure of the minor premiership and expected results will be looming large.
The Bulls beat the Eagles in round 10 of the season by 32 points, setting the scene for a classic EFL division-one showdown at 2.10pm this Saturday.
Bulls’ playing coach Shane Burgmann said the week off had allowed a number of players to return to full fitness.
“Daniel Donati will return to the side and other players have recovered from niggles,” he said.
With a fast-running midfield, Burgmann said the Eagles on-ballers demanded attention.
“The game will be won or lost in the centre, it will be a clash of the midfield,” he said.
“They have five or six prime movers of the ball.”
If Bulls speedster Lloyd Williams can get his hands on the ball and Brent Williams kicks a bag of goals, it is hard to see Noble Park being beaten.
