FIRE caused $200,000 damage to a Dandenong home last Saturday morning.
The James Street home, only 300 metres away from the Dandenong fire station, was engulfed in flames when brigades arrived within minutes of receiving the call out.
Motorists on the Monash Freeway reported seeing plumes of smoke coming from the house.
The occupants of the home were not inside. They returned home after the fire crews, from the Dandenong and Hallam brigades, had extinguished the blaze.
The house was almost completely destroyed, along with two cars parked in the front yard.
Fire investigators and police are establishing the cause of the fire.
