POLICE are investigating a fire that engulfed two dumped vehicles in Dandenong South on Tuesday morning.
CFA crews extinguished the blaze in Bayliss Road about 6.20am on 16 July.
Greater Dandenong CIU Acting Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said the street was in an industrial area surrounded by paddocks.
“It’s a fairly remote location,” he said.
The fire destroyed a purple Volvo truck which was reported stolen from a Hallam business overnight, and a white Toyota Corolla that had been parked at the site for about a week.
Act Det Sgt Kirton said it appeared the fire was deliberately lit to conceal the truck theft, and the dumped Corolla’s involvement might have been unrelated.
The investigation is ongoing.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information on the theft or fire.
