Chisholm TAFE is unsure if it will recoup recent funding cuts from the state government’s $200 million injection over four years.
Last year, Chisholm axed 220 jobs and 27 courses in response to $30 million in cuts since November 2011.
In a release, Chisholm chief executive Maria Peters did not respond to questions on whether the TAFE would seek to reverse any of that damage.
“Chisholm Institute remains excited and buoyed by both the market opportunities and the community response in 2013. ”
The government is yet to announce the criteria for the funds. Australian Education Union state TAFEs spokesman Greg Barclay said the funding injection would not reverse $300 million in cuts to Victorian TAFEs this year alone.
