Unbeaten run over in pennant

DINGLEY ended two of Springvale North Tennis Club’s unbeaten record in round four of Tennis Victoria’s Grade Two Pennant competition on Sunday.
Doubles day proved a dark day for the home side, as Dingley emerged the three rubbers to zero victor and ended Springvale North’s undefeated start to the season.
For the first time in three seasons, coach Stephen Sruk and partner Henryk Pawlukowski lost a doubles rubber, ending one of Tennis Victoria’s most impressive winning streaks.
After winning the first set 6-3 and serving for the second set at 5-4 the result seemed beyond doubt, but some errant volleys cost Springvale North the break and then the second set 5-7.
Dingley won the third set 6-4.
This weekend, Springvale North takes on Eildon Park in singles, with the team comprising Sruk, Pawlukowski, Zelko Lovric and Stephen Nguyen.
David Fonseca was ineligible for selection this week as his style of play did not suit the synthetic grass surface.
He won’t be considered for selection until the next bout of singles matches in round seven.
