POLICE were called to a Dandenong school after a 51-year-old Dandenong teacher received minor injuries while attempting to break up a fight on Monday.
Dandenong detectives and uniformed police were called to Caroline Street outside St John’s Regional College on Monday at 3.15pm after reports that a group of eight teenage males – one a student of the school – had targeted a 16-year-old student from Keysborough.
One of the attackers was reported to have produced a metal chain during the confrontation. A 39-year-old mother, from Hampton Park, who bore no relation to the victimised student, and a 51-year-old teacher intervened.
Dandenong Detective Sergeant Ian Milner said the trio received minor injuries, none requiring medical attention, and police had apprehended the attackers, who were aged between 16 and 18 and were from suburbs including Altona North, Endeavour Hills, Dandenong North and Hampton Park. No charges have been laid.
