Early effort pays

By JARROD POTTER

NOBLE Park’s efforts last week paid dividends as its match against Roxburgh Park/Broadmeadows was called off early on Saturday afternoon.
Resuming at 1/13 a wicket and two runs later the teams were back in the sheds – following the dismissal of Dhanushka Ekanayake (4).
Dean Edmunds (6no) and Chanaka Gunawardana (0no) were left at the crease when the match was called – owing in part to the amazing day’s play last weekend which left 21 wickets between these sides dismissed.
Noble Park just clutched first innings points, finishing on 56 with a resolute 23 from Jake Richardson proving pivotal as Roxburgh Park/Broadmeadows could only muster 50 in reply.
The win keeps Noble Park in the top six in the VSDCA East/West First XI competition, with the fifth place Bulls hosting cross-town rivals Endeavour Hills in a two-dayer at Pat Wright Senior Reserve starting Saturday.
