Cop needs stitches after attack

A DANDENONG police officer required stitches to his face after he was assaulted while pulling over a car.
Dandenong police said the officer was travelling along Kitchen Road, Dandenong South, at 12.30am on Sunday, 5 August.
The officer pulled over a vehicle and spoke to the driver, asking him to accompany him back to Dandenong Police Station for a breath test.
Police said a man in the passenger’s seat exited the car and assaulted the officer.
The officer called for assistance and Dandenong police sent backup units to the scene.
The officer went to Dandenong Hospital where he received two stitches to a cut above his eye.
Police have charged a 34-year-old Cranbourne man with intentionally and recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault, and assaulting police.
The man has been scheduled to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 11 December.

SCISSORS were used to threaten a 14-year-old boy to hand over his mobile phone and belongings outside Noble Park Railway Station on the weekend.
Police said the 14-year-old Narre Warren North boy was with two friends who had exited a train at the station at 6.30pm on Saturday, 4 August.
Police said the boys were surrounded by a group of 20 youths of African appearance, with one pulling out a pair of scissors and threatening the 14-year-old to hand over his mobile phone.
Another of the group punched the 14-year-old, who then promptly handed the phone to the man.
Police are calling for witnesses or anyone with information on the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A MAN wearing a Ronald Reagan mask and another in a Hawthorn beanie robbed a jogger of money in Dandenong last week.
Police said the 45-year-old Dandenong man was jogging along Jones Road when he was approached by the two men.
Police said the jogger believed the man wearing the Ronald Reagan mask had an object in his pocket that resembled a handgun.
The jogger told police the masked man pushed the unknown weapon into his back and demanded cash and other belongings.
Police said the jogger was then struck to the back of the head and assaulted by the two men before they fled.
Police believe another man was in the vicinity of the crime at the time.

POLICE have arrested two men in relation to a series of crimes in Springvale and surrounding suburbs throughout July.
A 24-year-old Springvale man and 23-year-old Pakenham man have been charged with various counts of assault and armed robbery and have been remanded in custody until appearing at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 26 October.
Police including the Frankston Embona Taskforce had been investigating a series of armed robberies on petrol stations in Noble Park and Springvale, as well as a pharmacy in Clayton and liquor store in Keysborough.
