Service honours fallen officers

THE End of Day Reflection service for National Police Remembrance Day was held at the Victoria Police Memorial The Necropolis in Springvale on Thursday.
Necropolis CEO Russ Allison said the service honoured the memories of police who had given their lives in serving the community.
“It was an opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful contribution police make to our daily lives and to remember those who have been lost in serving the community,” he said.
Senior police chaplain Reverend Jim Pilmer and Chief Police Commissioner Christine Nixon conducted the first and second reflections at the service.
The Honour Roll of Victoria Police who lost their lives in service was also read.
More than 130 Victoria Police have been killed in the line of duty. Of these, 30 were murdered.
Police and Emergency Services Minister Tim Holding and Necropolis Trust chairman Charlie Rossetti laid wreaths, along with the Chief Commissioner.
