FIRE engulfed two factories in a Keysborough industrial area on Friday morning.
CFA District 8 Operations Officer Paul Carrigg said more than 80 firefighters attended the Cambria Road site after receiving several reports of black smoke in the area about 3.40am.
“The fire was very intense and when crews arrived they found two factories fully involved, one being a car wreckers factory and the other was a plastic recycling factory,” he said.
“The fire spread quickly and was impinging on a cool store premises to the north and another factory on the eastern side.
“Crews from both CFA and MFB did a fantastic job containing the fire and stopped the flames from spreading to other surrounding factories.”
The fire was declared under control about 7.15am.
Its cause is yet to be determined.
