SPRINGVALE police jumped in a semi-trailer to nab distracted drivers.
Senior Sergeant Alan Dew said the trial operation used the truck as a spotting vehicle and was designed to target truckies.
“But they were on their radios, warning each other,” he said.
“We’re still running it. We got quite a lot of general motorists.
“We’re keen to crack down on distraction-type offences, especially phones.”
Sen Sgt Dew said the operation may return later in the year.
“We might try a bus. We’re always going to try new things to reduce the road toll and increase safety on the roads,” he said.
