A NEW waste transfer station will be built in Dandenong South.
Greater Dandenong councillors voted in favour of granting a permit for construction of the waste facility at Ordish Road, Dandenong South, to applicant Veolia Environmental Services.
The facility, according to a council officer’s report, will take up to 92,000 tonnes of waste in its first year of operation, with capacity eventually increasing to 200,000 tonnes. Of that, 11 per cent will be construction waste, and 89 per cent will be business and household waste, the report says.
The waste transfer station will not be open to the public and will only take waste from recognised businesses and waste contractors.
