LEARNING how to recycle, compost and plant kept kids on school holidays busy in Dandenong last week.
They turned egg cartons into a hungry caterpillar plant project at Heritage Hill on 7 April with help from City of Greater Dandenong waste education officer Samantha Ondrus.
The children, aged five to 12 years, learnt how to reuse and recycle items into eco-friendly objects.
Heritage Hill on 2 April allowed kids to create artistic felted renditions of their fine-feathered Aussie friends.
Council waste education officer Kirstine Oh taught children aged five to 12 years that galahs mate for life, cockatoos can live for up to 70 years and much more.
They learnt about the biology of Victorian birds while making felted badges and broaches of their favourite species.
Lesson learned for life
