NOBLE Park Train Station will be fully manned for all operating hours, seven days a week under plans to upgrade it to premium status.
The State Government an-nounced a $2.8 million upgrade to the station as part of its 2008-09 Budget.
Noble Park Ward councillor Pinar Yesil said additional seating for passengers and a fully enclosed waiting room would also be provided as part of the upgrade.
“In recent times the station has received new lighting, improved access for mobility impaired passengers and CCTV cameras. This announcement will further enhance the station and ensure better safety for the commuters who use the station each day,” Cr Yesil said.
Cr Yesil said more than 3200 people utilise Noble Park Train Station each week.
She said the City of Greater Dandenong council had been pushing for upgrades to the station for a long time and this news would be welcomed by the entire community.
“I made representations to the Minister last year requesting an upgrade to Noble Park station and I am delighted the State Government has listened to our communities concerns,” Cr Yesil said.
The upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of 2009 and the premium station officially opened in 2010.
