A BLANKET appeal to help Greater Dandenong’s poorest residents keep warm this winter has received a welcome response.
The Springvale Benevolent Society has this week been inundated with donations of blankets, cardigans and even sleeping bags after the Star last week revealed that the city’s poorest residents could not afford to run their heaters this winter.
The appeal is continuing and Keysborough Ward councillor and Springvale Benevolent Society volunteer Roz Blades thanked residents for their contributions so far, saying she was proud to be part of such a generous and caring community. To donate blankets to the Springvale Benevolent Society contact Cr Yvonne Herring on 9540 8649 or 0434 560 241, Cr Alan Gordon on 9540 3461 or 0434 560 238, Cr Roz Blades on 9701 5821 or 0417 053 612, or Wes Eggleston on 9546 8114.
Warm welcome for appeal
