DANDENONG Hospital Emergency Department has been named Australasia’s best.
The College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA) Best Australasian Emergency Department of the Year recognised the department’s transformation after introducing a new care model in late 2013.
Chief executive Shelly Park said the award recognised the Dandenong team’s exemplary efforts to champion the new model, in response to the rapid increase of emergency department presentations.
“This model involved team-based care, upfront timely medical assessment, reductions to queues and waiting times, and whole of hospital engagement,” she said.
“As a result, a significant and sustained improvement occurred in the quality of patient care.”
