FINTONIA Road in Noble Park became a waterway on Friday evening after a heavy downpour proved too much for the drainage network.
No buildings were threatened, but cars were forced to brake heavily before hitting the water, according to resident Alan Gordon.
“The storm hit at about 5.50pm and the road was under water for at least an hour,” he said.
“It happens every two or three years.
When there’s a flash flood, the street can’t take the water.”
Mr Gordon said the conditions shocked motorists.
“There were a few drivers that got a fright, that’s for sure,” he said.
