TWO Springvale South restauranteurs and their customers are helping to feed the homeless.
For the six weeks leading to Christmas, diners at Khe Sanh Restaurant can enjoy the culinary Asian and Vietnamese culinary delights as well as helping to fill the bowls of the less fortunate in conjunction with StreetSmart Australia’s “Dine Out to Help Out” campaign.
Diners at the restaurant will be urged to add a $2 or more donation to their bill to help raise funds for charities in surrounding areas.
This is the third year owners David Butten and Jack Nguyen have participated in the campaign, and have been able to raise $1000 in each year previously.
“We hope to do even better this year, with strong support from our loyal customers,” Mr Nguyen said.
“It’s the meal that feeds twice.”
Mr Butten agreed, saying that he was excited about raising money for local charities.
“We have always had a strong community involvement,” Mr Butten said.
“The idea was put to us and we thought it was a great idea to get our customers involved.”
He said that any donation given by their customers would be matched by the restaurant.
“It is great to know that 100 per cent of all money raised goes to those who are less fortunate than ourselves,” Mr Butten said.
“All money we raise will go to local charities.”
