TWO Green Party candidates standing for City of Greater Dandenong council have joined more than 160 candidates in council elections across Victoria who have made a stand against genetically modified foods.
John Ward and Jim Reiher have vowed to work for GM-free foods to, they say, protect the health of the community.
“Local councils can do a lot to protect their residents from the potential dangers of GM food and they should do it,” Mr Ward said.
Mr Reiher said: “Greater Dandenong is a community defined by families with children so the council cannot afford to ignore this serious health issue. We need to work together as a community to ensure a healthy future for our children.”
