Ute burnt beyond recognition

By CASEY NEILL

Police are trying to identify a ute found burnt-out in Bangholme.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said a passer-by found the Mazda utility in the car park at the National Water Sports Centre on Riverend Road about 5.45am on Saturday 9 July.
They notified the CFA and a crew attended, but determined the fire was already completely extinguished and notified police.
Det Sgt Kirton said the car’s registration plates had been removed and extensive damage to the engine block had destroyed the vehicle identification number (VIN).
He urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
