KEYSBOROUGH junior footballer Cameron McLeod is well and truly on the ball.
The 11-year-old rover has won four consecutive best and fairest awards since starting his career as keen eight-year-old.
And the natural talent already has his sights set on playing senior football with Casey-Cardinia League club Keysborough.
“I go and watch my coach Matthew Grech play for Keysborough and I want to play my senior football there,” Cameron said.
Before his first junior season, Cameron spent the winter on the training track with his older brother Jay preparing to pull on the boots for the Keysborough under 10 team.
Cameron said it was hard, but it kept him motivated.
“I couldn’t wait to start playing, I was excited by the time the season came around,” he |said.
Despite being younger than most of his team-mates, Cameron dominated the on-ball position in his first year and won the best and fairest trophy.
This trend continued over the next two years as he continued to develop as a player.
Cameron remained in the under 10s and continued filling his trophy cabinet as the seasons went by.
This year Cameron made the move to the under-11s and under 12s combined side, played his 100th game during the season and took home his fourth best and fairest.
But the modest junior was surprised every time.
“I never expected them, I just keep doing my best,” he said.
Cameron is dedicated to continually improving and developing his skills, and with a few more years on the field he just might be among the star recruits Keysborough is looking for.
