Rider blames adrenalin

“A RUSH of adrenalin” has landed a 26-year-old motorcyclist in trouble with the law, travelling 83km/h over the speed limit outside Sandown Racecourse on Friday morning.
The Wheelers Hill man was riding his Suzuki motorbike at 163km/h in an 80 zone.
Constable Brad Mascoll, of the Greater Dandenong Traffic Management Unit, pulled the motorcyclist over and impounded his motorbike under hoon legislation powers.
The motorcyclist has also been summonsed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court. A date has not yet been set.
“His excuse for riding at that speed was a rush of adrenalin,” Const. Mascoll said.
“My advice to anyone who wants to act on that need for a rush of adrenalin is to attend a track day in safe and controlled conditions.”
He said that it was disappointing after the police campaign for riders to ride safely that the message was not getting through.
“The lucky thing for him is that he has only lost his motorbike for a few days, and we don’t have to notify another family that a loved one has died in a high-speed collision,” Const Mascoll said.
“It’s very very frustrating that some road users are just not getting the message.”
