WHO would have thought 81 trips along EastLink would win someone the great Australian dream? EastLink announced the winner of a $170,000 block of land at the newly released Sandarra housing project at Sandhurst last week.
Shane Grattidge, 54, of Croydon, was announced as the winner of the unique ‘Road Lotto’ competition – a joint promotion between ConnectEast and Sandarra.
A single trip on EastLink by the father of two was randomly selected by computer from around 2.9 million eligible trips during the competition period.
Drivers holding an active pre-paid Breeze Tag or Non Tag Account with ConnectEast were automatically entered into the draw every time they used EastLink.
Since tolling commenced on 27 July 2008, traffic on EastLink has increased by 12 per cent over the seven-month period and average trip lengths have also increased steadily. There were 152,654 average daily trips on EastLink in February 2009.
