Pool works awarded

THE CITY of Greater Dandenong has awarded a $194,947.50 tender for the Noble Park Swimming Pool redevelopment.
Greater Dandenong mayor Pinar Yesil said a report recommended the contract be awarded to Davis Langdon Australia Pty Ltd to provide full project management services during the redevelopment.
She said this was an exciting step forward for the residents of Noble Park and the broader Greater Dandenong community.
“The Noble Park Swim Centre is an important community asset that encourages fitness, social interaction and fosters community spirit,” Cr Yesil said.
“We are very pleased to see the proposed redevelopment at Noble Park Swim Centre moving forward.”
The redevelopment of the pool, subject to approved funding, will see quality improvements made to the existing centre.
Proposed works include a replacement 50-metre outdoor pool, new water play areas, a café with outdoor seating, new family change rooms, the incorporation of volleyball, basketball, soccer facilities, new barbecue and picnic areas and a multi-purpose room for community use.
Paperbark Ward councillor Roz Blades said she was pleased to see the project moving forward.
“I am delighted that this exciting project is one step closer to commencing,” she said.
“This project is a vital part of the council’s ongoing commitment to the redevelopment of Noble Park.”
Major construction at the swim centre is due to start before 30 September.
