UNDER the cover of darkness, seven escort vehicles including two police vehicles delivered two bright yellow beams to South Australia.
Dandenong’s JDN Monocrane, not shy with its labelling, delivered the largest crane they have ever made in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
Managing director Colin Smith (pictured) said while the company produced many different cranes, this one, with its combination of heaviest capacity and largest span had created much excitement.
“It’s the first one we’ve made with this combination,” he said.
It took two days to transport the 100 tonne crane spanning 38 metres from Dandenong to its South Australian destination.
Mr Smith said it would not be the last.
“We have another one to build, plus two 27 metere span cranes as well,” he said.
“This is only the first of four cranes in the contract.”
