TWO men suffered burns when fumes from an engine cleaner ignited at a Dandenong car workshop on Tuesday.
Paramedics were called to the workshop about 3pm.
Intensive care paramedic Steve Murphy said they arrived within seven minutes to find both men being cared for by colleagues.
“The men were apparently burnt when fumes from an engine cleaner ignited,” he said.
“The most seriously injured was a 19-year-old man who had burns to his abdomen, arms and the top of his legs.”
Mr Murphy said he was told the man dropped to the ground while workmates smothered the flames.
After paramedics treated him, he was taken to The Alfred in a serious condition.
A 20-year-old man was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition suffering burns to the fingers.
