POLICE are looking for a man who was armed with a tomahawk and robbed a cinema on the weekend.
On 24 April, at about 5.20pm a man entered the cinemas at Dandenong Plaza carrying a blue cooler bag and a tomahawk.
Police said the man approached cinema staff brandishing the tomahawk and demanded cash, before jumping over the counter and accessing the safe and tills.
The man entered a room at the rear of the office and accessed the safe and tills before leaving the cinema centre with a significant amount of cash.
Police said the man headed south across McCrae Street into a car park next to the Budget Fruit store and approached a couple who were getting out of their car, threatened them with the tomahawk, and demanded the man’s car keys.
The driver handed over the keys and the man got into the vehicle and sped off, heading north on the Princes Highway.
The car stolen is a silver coloured 1993 Toyota Camry sedan, registration FGO-818 and the armed man is described as Caucasian, in his mid-thirties 183 to186cm tall and of medium build, with short brown hair.
