DRUGS including ice, speed, ecstasy and cannabis were seized following police raids in Melbourne’s south-east last week.
Last Thursday’s raids, in Keysborough, Noble Park North, Moorabbin, Aspendale and Mulgrave followed a six month drug investigation led by the Moorabbin Divisional Response Unit (DRU).
Police also seized stolen property valued about $1300 and prohibited weapons including two Tasers.
Police arrested and charged three men and one woman for drug related offences.
The four people, aged between 28 and 32 and from Moorabbin, Aspendale and Mulgrave, have been bailed to appear at the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court.
Kingston Police Service Area Acting Inspector Mark Zervaas said it was expected that the flow of illicit drugs in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs will be significantly reduced as a result of the arrests.
“These raids are a message to those involved in trafficking that they will be targeted and prosecuted,” he said. “Harm caused by illicit drugs remains to be a large concern for Victoria Police, and we will continue to work hard in reducing the supply of drugs to our community.”
The investigation is continuing with further arrests expected.
A significant police presence was involved in the drug raids, including members from the Moorabbin and Prahran DRUs, Tasking Units and Crime Investigation Units in the Moorabbin Division, Crime Department and Dog Squad.
