Rain hits matches

By Gavin Staindl
LOCAL cricket officials are stressing to all cricketers to consult their association’s revised fixtures after all matches were again called off because of the weather. Dandenong and District Cricket Association, Victorian Premier Cricket and Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association all abandoned their matches last Saturday as the wet spring continued to wreak havoc on local cricket pitches.
Round one of the Dandenong and District Cricket Association was scheduled to finally get under way on Saturday but has been pushed back to early January.
Victorian Premier side Dandenong Panthers had its match against Ringwood cancelled and will play North Melbourne this weekend in a one-dayer.
While Noble Park has had to wait till this weekend to play its first game, after the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association also called off earlier matches.
The ‘opening round’ is now scheduled for Sunday 13 February.
The VSDCA has confirmed this weekend’s round is scheduled to go ahead with Noble Park to play a one-day match against Altona.
